On a Dime - Senseless in Lewes by Revere Reed

I have not committed to writing a second novel. I'm definitely interested in pursuing some of the other art forms. I think a little bit depends on how well received this one is. Q Now that your first book is out there, have you started thinking about your next one?Ī I have thought about it. Then, he goes on to Baltimore and makes his way back to Lewes. There's quite a few references to Wilmington. The main character travels through Smyrna to Wilmington. But, even then the details are imaginary. As I say in the beginning, in the pages before the story starts, the events and characters are fictitious but real locations are mentioned for authenticity. There are a lot of references to locations in Lewes. There's not a real person in the whole book. I've gone out of my way to make it as convoluted as possible. Q Will anybody recognize themselves or the places in the book?Ī They will not recognize themselves. And, the importance of family is a highlight of the book also. And, I know information technology, banking, Lewes, and it's peppered with a lot of golf references.

And, the characters just sort of evolved and I came up with the scheme where he gets framed.Ī Exactly. I started with plot that would involve an embezzlement. I actually lopped off the first 100 pages and started at different point in the story.Ī Well, when I worked in the banking industry I could see where one could embezzle money if you were so inclined. And, then, with the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild, I took a novel writing class, which helped a lot and motivated me to rewrite it. And, they really helped me write the first draft of the novel. I attended their weekly meetings every year for a couple of years. I tapped into the Rehoboth Art League writer's group. So, when I decided I wanted to write a novel, it was kind of a challenging undertaking. My career was all about math and logic and computer science. I was tagged as a girl good a math early on and I followed that all the way through my education. That's one of the reasons I wanted to write a novel. He is an information technology manager at a bank as I was and the book follows him in the two weeks after he discovers he's been framed as he tries to exonerate himself and save his family.Ī My background is all technology. Here, she discusses the book, the writing process, and using what you know for inspiration.Ī My main character is framed for embezzlement. Eight years later, after writing and rewriting and taking countless classes and seminars, she felt it was time to put her work out there for the masses. But, there was a pull to do something creative-to prove that a girl good at math could be good with words, too.

So, she mapped out her life accordingly with a career in information technology within the banking industry. Ann Revere Reed was tagged early on as a girl who was good at math.
